AND NOW HERE’S THE NEWS: Every year around this time, Bruce Springsteen fans gather in appropriate locations--in the darkness at the edge of town, in the back-seat of a pink Cadillac--and wonder: Will this be the year that CBS finally release a Boss live album? The answer this year seems to be yes. Look for a double-album package (at least), in time for Christmas. And what’s more, a concert video package is on the way too, though no one’s set a release date. The concert footage was shot over the past few years by an NFL Films crew, which has been editing together 30 different songs for final Springsteen approval. . . . Boy George is not only on the mend, but he’s also in Montserrat, starting work on a solo record, co-writing songs with Motown composer Lamont Dozier. Producer Stewart Levine, who just did the Simply Red debut record, is at the production helm. . . . Frankie Goes to Hollywood is back on the British charts with a new single, “Rage Hard,” which takes its lyrics from a Dylan Thomas poem. The 12-inch version of the single also has a cover version of David Bowie’s “Suffragette City.” . . . U2 is back in the studio, working on a new album, with Brian Eno again at the production helm. . . . And if you’re a fan of New Orleans R&B;, pick up a copy of “Jump City,” a new album by L.A.-based sax great Jerry Jumonville. Available on the Miracle Mile Jazz label, the record features such swamp-soul tunes as “Bar-B-Q-Boogie,” “Jumping With Mr. J.” and a rousing cover of Fats Domino’s “Let the Four Winds Blow.”
