Christensen Surprises Nixon in Asian Masters

FUJISAWA, Japan — Unseeded Morten Christensen of Denmark beat fifth-seeded Randy Nixon of the United States, 7-6 (7-2), 6-4 Sunday in the men’s singles final of the Asian Satellite Circuit Masters tennis tournament.
Christensen won $1,700, while Nixon, of Coronado, Calif., pocketed $1,200 after the one-hour, 20-minute battle on a hard court of the Shonan Sports Center.
Christensen later teamed up with South Korea’s Song Dong-wook and defeated Paul Mick of Australia and Japan’s Shozo Shiraishi, 6-2, 6-4 in the doubles final.
