A Cent Sale to London
World Adventures in Newport Beach is offering a cent sale to London until next March 31, whereby you can get one of three land offerings for just a penny more than the cost of a round-trip Los Angeles/San Diego/Santa Ana-Houston-London air fare.
Flights have to be on Continental Airlines, using its APEX air fare to London. This round-trip California-London (figure a one- to two-hour layover in Houston to pick up your international flight) rate is $799 until Sept. 30; $681, Oct. 1-31; $631, Nov. 1-Dec. 12; $681, Dec. 13-24, and $631, Dec. 25-March 31, 1987.
One of the three options available provides a Kemwel car for 14 days with unlimited mileage. Not included are gas, collision damage waiver and other incidental car insurance options, and the value added tax.
The sale on the car rental program is based on two people traveling together. There is a supplemental charge if you travel alone. You also have to buy this offering at least 45 days before departure to avoid an extra charge of $60. Your car would have to be picked up and returned at Gatwick Airport, with an extra charge for dropping the car off elsewhere.
Another possibility is a BritRail Pass good for four days of unlimited travel on a second-class basis. You can extend the duration of the pass (7, 14, 21 and 31 days are available) and get an upgrade to first-class with additional payments.
The third choice is a London sightseeing package including round-trip transfers from Gatwick Airport to your London hotel, a half-day tour of the West End area, a four-day London Explorer Pass (unlimited travel on London’s red double-decker buses and the subway system), a theater pass one night for your choice of a play on a seat-available basis, and dinner at a major London restaurant.
You also get a Discount Countdown Card that provides various discounts at some restaurants, department stores, casinos and other attractions.
