Adams State and Wayland Named All-Sport Champions in NAIA
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Adams State College of Colorado and Wayland Baptist University of Texas have been named winners in the NAIA Sports Information Directors Assn. all-sports competition.
Adams State edged LaCrosse Wisconsin in the men’s competition by finishing fourth at the outdoor track and field championships, first in cross country and second in indoor track and field.
Wayland Baptist, winner in women’s sports over Pacific Lutheran of Washington, compiled points in the competition with the championship in indoor track and field and by finishing second in basketball and outdoor track and field.
The National Assn. of Intercollegiate Athletics established the all-sports competition in 1969. It measures the success of a school’s overall athletic program by the accumulation of points in post-season competition on the district, area and national levels.
Wayland Baptist finished third in the men’s competition, while Central Washington and Central of Oklahoma tied for fourth.
