Ralph Nader’s Opposition to Prop. 51
Your article (May 26) on the pros and cons of Proposition 51 was timely and very interesting, but it never suggested the impropiety of Atty. Gen. John Van de Camp using his position to intimidate voters against this measure.
I personally resent an elected official acting as a quasi-spokesman for special interest groups such as the California Trial Lawyers Assn. who are spending large sums of money to defeat the proposition.
It is high time our legislators passed a law prohibiting elected officials from endorsing candidates for office or taking a stand on any ballot measure.
