Fagin Named President of Homestake
Homestake Mining Co., San Francisco, announced Thursday that David K. Fagin has joined the company as president and chief operating officer.
He assumes the post of president from Harry M. Conger, who retains the titles of chairman and chief executive of Homestake, one of the nation’s largest gold producers.
Fagin was formerly president of Rosario Resources Corp., a mining, energy and chemicals company that was acquired by Amax Inc. in 1980. Since 1982, he has headed Denver-based Fagin Exploration Co., a mineral, oil and gas exploration and development firm.
“Mr. Fagin’s long and successful record of experience in mining, which included a prominent role in making Rosario’s Pueblo Viejo Mine in the Dominican Republic the largest gold producer in the Western Hemisphere, makes him a perfect fit in our organization,” Conger said in a statement.
