A Brazilian national living in Los Angeles pleaded guilty to one count of false advertising involving his attempt to sell movie star photographs bearing bogus autographs. Harold Cornell, 28, who is also known as Hal Drake and Haroldo Filho, sought to sell the autographed photos of stars--including James Dean, Lon Chaney, Marilyn Monroe and W. C. Fields--for $3,500 to the owner of a Los Angeles book shop, the city attorney’s office said. Cornell, who has a previous petty theft conviction, will be sentenced June 3.
