San Diego
A Point Loma man was arrested by the San Diego Police Department’s recently formed Mission Bay Harbor Patrol Tuesday on suspicion of driving a boat while intoxicated, police reported.
George Pitts, 29, was pulled over by the patrol about 4 p.m. for driving his home-made 16-foot boat at 15 m.p.h. in a 5 m.p.h. zone, police spokesman Bill Robinson said.
He was arrested and taken to the County Jail downtown when he failed a sobriety test, Robinson said.
The incident marks the first boat drunk-driving arrest made by the patrol, which was formed in March, Robinson said.
