Trial for Not Reporting Child Abuse Is Upheld

MADISON, Wis. — A parent who knows a spouse is abusing their child but fails to report it should stand trial on criminal child abuse charges, the Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled Wednesday.
The court upheld a ruling that Terri Williquette, 29, of Sturgeon Bay, should be bound over for trial because she allegedly knew of, but did nothing about, her husband’s abuse of their 7-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter. Bert Williquette was convicted of child abuse and is serving a prison term.
