Local News in Brief : 2 Suspects Linked to 60 Burglaries
Two Canoga Park men jailed on burglary charges may have committed as many as 60 commercial and residential break-ins to finance cocaine addictions, Los Angeles police said.
The men, Sean Oshea, 20, and John Austin, 19, are being held in lieu of $50,000 bail each in County Jail pending a March 14 preliminary hearing on 10 counts of commercial and residential burglary, Detective Phil Quartararo said.
Another investigator said the men have acknowledged committing about 60 burglaries and showed detectives where the crimes occurred.
Quartararo said the men have been implicated in several additional burglaries since October but he declined to provide additional information because the cases are under investigation.
The men told investigators they were addicted to cocaine, Quartararo said.
Quartararo said items taken in the burglaries included cash, jewelry, televisions and video cassette recorders.
The men were arrested Feb. 27 in Canoga Park.
