‘A Return to Equity’
My wife and I campaigned and voted for Proposition 13. We read all the critiques we could find and decided that if there were flaws in that proposition, they could be corrected. But, we felt the message just had to get to our legislative representatives--like clobbering the donkey with a 2 by 4 first, to get his attention.
Both of us still support Proposition 13 even though we sold our house and are now subject to a much higher tax in our new home. We understood this at the time the proposition was voted on and we understand it today. However, we do think the changes mentioned in your editorial are reasonable.
