Assembly Speaker Willie Brown (D-San Francisco) has reversed a directive ordering his 45 Democratic colleagues to avoid professional dealings with a newspaper reporter who has been critical of Brown. Brown had issued the order against David Willman, a Sacramento correspondent for the San Jose Mercury News, at a private caucus meeting. But Brown since has decided to answer questions from Willman at public forums and to allow colleagues to decide for themselves whether to be interviewed, sources said.
