Stanford to Play Bucknell in NCAA Water Polo Opener
Stanford (22-4) is the top-seeded team in the NCAA water polo tournament, which starts today at Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool in Long Beach.
The Cardinal will play Bucknell (20-5) at 3 p.m.; Cal State Long Beach (21-9) will face UC Santa Barbara (20-9) at 4:30; UC Irvine (21-7) will meet Brown (19-5) at 6 p.m., and UCLA (21-5) will take on Loyola of Chicago (18-7) at 7:30.
“Anybody’s capable of winning it,” UCLA Coach Bob Horn said. “No year has been as competitive as this one. I predict there will be a lot of overtimes.”
The tournament will continue at the same times Saturday and will conclude with the championship game Sunday night at 7:30.
