Defensive end Mike Bell of the Kansas...
Defensive end Mike Bell of the Kansas City Chiefs and his twin brother, former pro football player Mark Bell, pleaded innocent to federal cocaine charges at Wichita, Kan.
Mike and Mark Bell, 28, appeared before U.S. District Judge Sam A. Crow in Wichita. Crow also will try their case. They are charged with one count of using a telephone to arrange an illegal drug transaction and one count of attempted possession of cocaine. Mike Bell also is charged in an additional telephone count.
During the one-hour arraignment and pretrial hearing, attorney Mike D. Wilson of Wichita, representing Mike Bell, said he might at some point ask Crow to keep out of court information that was obtained by telephone wiretaps. Wilson said he might challenge the use of the wiretap information because the taps were approved by a state judge and the charges were brought by a federal grand jury.
