Santa Ana : Veterans Will Honor Those Killed in Action
War veterans will honor Orange County residents who were killed in action in World War I, World War II and the Korean War in a dedication ceremony in Santa Ana on Saturday.
The ceremony, which is sponsored by the Orange County Veterans Memorial Committee, will unveil plaques in front of the Memorial Plaza Monument at the Civic Center Plaza for American soldiers from Orange County killed in the wars. A plaque for the Vietnam War has already been placed on one side of the monolith that makes up the monument.
Guest speakers at the ceremony will include Winston Roche, a veteran representing the World War I era; Thomas F. Riley, 5th District county supervisor and a former Marine Corps general representing the World War II era, and William Barber, a Medal of Honor recipient who will represent the Korean War era.
