A hurricane watch was issued for the Gulf Coast from Texas to Alabama as Tropical Storm Danny, with winds of 45 m.p.h., developed 475 miles south-southwest of New Orleans. It is expected to move northwest and strengthen. Meanwhile, Hurricane Claudette was in the open sea about 380 miles off Bermuda and was expected to weaken.
