Driver Waves Girl Into Intersection, Runs Her Down
DENVER — A 27-year-old woman was arrested for investigation into the death of a little girl who apparently was waved across an intersection by a motorist and then run down, police said today.
Detective Martin O’Dowd said Nanette N. Post, also known as Nanette Sullivan, of Corin, N.Y., was arrested as she was leaving a parking lot.
He said she was being held for investigation of felony hit-and-run and vehicular homicide.
Karla Ricketts, 8, was struck Monday at a northeast Denver intersection. Police said the girl was taken to University Hospital with head and internal injuries and was pronounced dead an hour later.
“Witnesses said the car came to a stop and the driver waved (the girl) across, but before she got all the way across it took off and hit her with the right front,” the detective said.
