Arcadia
In an effort to provide fire protection for homeowners in the foothill areas above Arcadia, Sierra Madre and Monrovia, the Chantry Flats access road will be closed to public traffic between 6 p.m. and 7 a.m. July 3 and 4.
In recent years, use of fireworks in the brush area has increased the number of fires in the three cities, an Arcadia Fire Department spokesman said. Forest visitors planning picnics at Chantry Flats on either day should plan to leave the area by 5:30 p.m.
The spokesman also said that no fireworks of any type are allowed in Angeles National Forest or the cities of Sierra Madre and Monrovia. Fireworks are prohibited in the brush areas of Arcadia.
