UC Irvine Rallies Past Chapman, 9-4
UC Irvine scored five runs in the seventh inning Wednesday to beat Chapman College, 9-4, in a nonconference intercollegiate baseball game in Hart Park at Orange.
Anteater Bob Perry followed his second-inning solo homer with a grand slam in the seventh. Robbie Johnson, one of seven Anteater pitchers to enter and exit the game, earned the victory after relieving Kevin Kandalaft and pitching the sixth inning.
Craig Kuhse led the Panther offense, going three-for-four. Mike Lomeli, who pitched 6 innings and gave up 10 hits, took the loss for Chapman (6-6). UCI is 8-7-1.
