Artificial heart patient William J. Schroeder suffered some scarring of brain tissue from a series of strokes last month but has taken his longest walk since the implant. A Humana Hospital Audubon spokesman in Louisville, Ky., said Schroeder was a little tired after the walk from physical therapy on one floor to the elevator, then from the elevator to his room on another. “His appetite is good,” she said, and he planned to watch basketball on TV over the weekend.
