Fullerton to Play Host to Undefeated Northeast Louisiana
The Cal State Fullerton women’s basketball team takes a six-game winning streak into tonight’s nonconference game against fifth-ranked and undefeated Northeast Louisiana in Titan Gym at 8 o’clock.
Cheryl Miller and the second-ranked USC women’s team, which defeated fourth-ranked Texas Saturday, will meet Notre Dame in the first game of the doubleheader at 6 p.m. The Trojans, two-time, defending NCAA champions, are 9-0.
Fullerton (8-3) recently won the UCI Holiday Tournament with a 56-46 victory over the University of Victoria. The Titans also beat Gonzaga (75-58) and San Jose State (76-55) in tournament play.
Senior forward Meg Gallagher leads the Titans in scoring (16.7 points per game), rebounding (6.7) and assists (51). Center Terri Withers is averaging 11.5 points and 6.6 rebounds. Withers also was named the Irvine tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
Northeast Louisiana (8-0) features two All-Americans in forward Lisa Ingram, who is averaging 23.8 points and 9.1 rebounds a game, and guard Eun Jung Lee, who is averaging 13.5 points and 11 assists. Lee ranks second in the nation in assists.
The Indians also have one of the nation’s best freshmen in 6-4 center Chana Perry, who is averaging 20 points and 11.7 rebounds a game.
