Liberace Family Tomb Defaced
Liberace’s family tomb at Forest Lawn Memorial-Park in the Hollywood Hills was vandalized by someone who had apparently singled out the entertainer, police said today. A bronze nameplate bearing the pianist’s name was pried off the family’s marble sarcophagus and left behind, police said.
The vandalism, which caused an estimated $1,500 worth of damage, occurred over the weekend, Sgt. Robert Meza said. He added that no other tombs were touched. Liberace was reportedly “sick and upset” over the incident, according to his publicist. Liberace’s mother and brother are buried in the sarcophagus, cemetery officials said.
