Football: Ex-Crespi football star is back coaching

Russell White, the best running back in Encino Crespi football history, was named Friday football coach at Oakland Castlemont High.
He returns to the Bay Area, where he was at standout at California, setting the career rushing record. He earlier had moved to Arizona. He was an assistant coach at Castlemont in 2008.
White was a sophomore at Crespi in 1986 when the Celts, under Coach Bill Redell, became the first and only San Fernando Valley team to win the Southern Section Division I title, known then as the Big Five.
