Girls’ basketball: Beverly Hills’ Jaina Abdul-Mansour believes her buzzer beater was in the cards

Yesterday Beverly Hills’ Jaina Abdul-Mansour made a 60-foot buzzer beater against Laguna Hills to save her team from sudden elimination in the playoffs.

Since then she has done some reflecting, and believes that a harbinger foretold her feat.

It came in the form of a Red Bull truck.

The Normans have one playoff tradition; they drink a Red Bull before every game.

As they returned to their school bus yesterday after a pregame snack, they were shocked that a Red Bull truck had pulled behind it.

‘It was amazing,’ Abdul-Mansour said.

The senior guard is still trying to digest yesterday’s happenings. After all, she is not used to the spotlight.

She averages 11 points a game while her twin sister, Miranda, averages 23.

‘I’m normally in the corner by myself,’ Abdul-Mansour said, half joking.

Instead, she was barraged by elated teammates jumping and crying.

Her newfound fame has not gone to her head.

How did she celebrate when she got home?

‘Um, I watched Family Guy,’ Abdul-Mansour said.

And when people stopped her in the halls today to congratulate her, she told them all the same thing:

‘It wasn’t just me, it was the whole team that made the win possible.’
