I’m guessing that when shortstop Natalie Hernandez woke up today, she probably believed this was going to be one of her best day ever. It has been anything but for the Glendora sophomore.
Hernandez, one of seven underclassmen in the Tartans’ starting lineup, just committed her third error of the game and it allowed El Modena to score two more runs in the Southern Section-Toyota Division II championship game Friday at Barber Park in Irvine.
Hernandez’ first error of the night also led to two runs in the first inning. On that play, she charged the ball, lost her footing and then booted the ball into right field. This time, Hernandez forgot to touch her glove to the ground and the ball went right between her legs.
You have to feel for her.
El Modena has a 9-3 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth inning.
