It appears recently-fired Calabasas boys’ basketball coach Jim Nielsen could be back at the helm soon.

The 58-year-old coach met with Las Virgenes Unified School District Superintendent Donald Zimring and other district officials on Tuesday afternoon and described the meeting as ‘a very positive experience.’

‘I’m very optimistic things are going to work out,’ Nielsen said.

Nielsen wouldn’t elaborate on the details of the meeting or whether he will be re-hired. But judging by his upbeat demeanor and what he was willing to say, I’d be surprised if the second-year coach isn’t reinstated sometime in the next few weeks. There’s a chance he could be re-hired at the next school board meeting April 8.

If you’re in the dark about the recent drama that has unfolded on the Calabasas campus since Nielsen was fired at a school board meeting last week, check this out.
