Foshay has spent most of the first half on Sherman Oaks Center for Enriched Studies’ side of the field. But the Wolverines have been kept out of the scoring column by Knights goalkeeper Samantha Meyer, who has unofficially made five saves -- two of them from point-blank range.

On the other hand, Foshay goalkeeper Paola Jimenez has had little to do, making only one save, and that came in 34th minute.

So goes the City Section Small Schools Division girls’ soccer championship game currently underway at Contreras High.

If SOCES is going to break through in the second half, the Knights are going to have to take a couple more chances, or at least hold the ball longer on offense.

Otherwise, I suspect Foshay finally will get one past Meyer in the second half.
