Brea has a chance to add another feather to Southland’s cap

The Long Beach Poly girls’ basketball team won the T-Mobile Classic in Albuquerque, N.M., and on Monday Brea Olinda will have a chance to add another out-of-town title to the Southland trophy case.

The Ladycats (9-2) will try to defend their title in the West Coast Jamboree’s marquee Platinum Division. Brea, No. 5 in The Times’ preseason rankings, will face unbeaten Stockton St. Mary’s (12-0), which is ranked No. 4 in the state by CalHiSports.com. Brea is ranked No. 8 in the state.

Brea beat Hightstown (N.J.) The Peddie School in the semifinals, 59-46, on Saturday.
