Loren Arterberry, a 36-year-old black man, was shot and killed Monday, Dec 21, at Western and Vernon avenues in Vermont Square, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s officials.
Arterberry, of Alhambra, was riding a bicycle when someone walked up and shot him, said Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner’s office. Winter said the assailant then fled on foot.
Arterberry was shot about 7:40 p.m. and taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead at 8:10 p.m., Winter said.
