Compton: Hiram Taylor, 57

Hiram Taylor, a 57-year-old black man, was shot and killed Tuesday, Dec. 22, at 156th Street and Central Avenue in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s officials.

Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner’s office, said Taylor worked at a Christmas tree lot at the location and got into an argument with a customer. The person apparently left and returned with several other people, then shot Taylor three times.

The shooting happened at 2:35 p.m. and Taylor was pronounced dead at 3:53 p.m., Winter said. Winter said police had one person in custody in connection with Taylor’s death.
