For the first time since 2005, Jimmie Johnson was selected in a media preseason poll to win the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championship.
Johnson will be in search of an unprecedented fifth-straight Cup championship.
Jeff Gordon, Johnson’s teammate at Hendrick Motorsports, was picked to finish second. Tony Stewart, a two-time Cup champion, was selected to finish third.
