PHOENIX -- Rookie relievers Kevin Jepsen and Rich Thompson got roughed up in the Angels’ 5-3 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday.
Jepsen gave up two runs in one inning. Thompson gave up two runs in 1-2/3 innings, including two doubles, and a home run by -- no kidding -- a Brewer named Brent Brewer.
Shane Loux, one of the candidates for the lone vacancy in the Angels’ starting rotation, pitched two shutout innings in his spring debut. Nick Green, who would have been one of those candidates had the Brewers not claimed him on waivers this month, pitched two shutout innings for the save. The Angels put Green on waivers to clear a roster spot for Bobby Abreu.
The Angels drew 10 walks, including two apiece by Jeff Mathis, Kendry Morales and Terry Evans.
The Angels play the Kansas City Royals tomorrow, with Dustin Moseley the scheduled starter.
