Jay Leno’s monologue on Thursday’s ‘Tonight Show’ made room for the Phillies’ World Series win. Here’s some of what he had to say about the Phillies and their fans:
They won the World Series last night at Citizen’s Bank Park in Philadelphia. You could tell the Phillies fans were really nervous. Not about the game -- just being at a place that the bank owned. It could close down any minute. The Phillies beat Tampa Bay by a score of 4-3. Of course, in Florida they’re already asking for a recount. Did you see how cold it was? It was 23 degrees in Philadelphia last night. It also marked the first time in a World Series Game that the beer was actually cold. Phillies fans went crazy. They were tipping over cars, lit fires, broke windows. ...The same things they would have done if they lost.
