They should have titled this season of ‘Dexter’ ‘Season Three: Now It’s Personal.’ Not a crime can be committed in Miami without it affecting a member of the police department somehow. Miguel Prado’s brother is murdered. Deb Morgan’s boyfriend, a confidential informant, is nearly killed. Angel Battista’s girlfriend is beaten up and now Ellen Wolf (Anne Ramsay), the public defender and friend of Maria Laguerta (Lauren Vélez) is dead. There must be only about 20 people living in Miami.

So far Battista (David Zayas) has seen justice served, and while Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) hasn’t yet gotten her man, she at least knows who he is, and the catch will be all the more gratifying once she realizes that the Skinner is also about to kill Dexter (Michael C. Hall), a directive given by Miguel (Jimmy Smits). This will make up for all her shortcomings as a detective, which are plentiful (it’s not THAT awful of Miguel, even if he is psycho, to unleash an ethics investigation on Deb for dating and protecting an informant). This is all speculation on my part, but it’ll be quite a party when this happens AND Miguel finds out that Dexter killed his brother and meanwhile Maria, acting on her own, discovers that Miguel killed Wolf. It’s going to be great.

Anyway, that’s what SHOULD happen if the members of the Miami police department weren’t so busy falling in love or falling in love with the wrong man or planning bachelor parties or killing people. What I would like to see is for Rita (Julie Benz) to save the day. She’s pregnant, she’s planning a wedding, she’s stressed so she’s just going to do these jokers’ jobs for them. Her fiance’s boss wants to kill her fiance and is cheating on her best friend, and by the way her fiance’s other boss is cheating WITH her best friend’s husband, and she might catch the guy for a different murder. Come on, Rita -- if you can just put the pieces together and manage to pull off the wedding, you’ll be the most accomplished woman in Miami!
