There’s a new video on heavy rotation just outside Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Capitol office. In a display case on the first floor is a seven-second clip of President Obama on constant repeat.

“I can guarantee that the worst thing we can do would be to raise taxes when the economy is still this weak,” the president says — over, and over and over.

The quote is from an interview the president did with ABC’s Diane Sawyer earlier this week.

So what gives? Is this some kind of new psychological warfare being waged by the governor to taunt Democratic lawmakers as they wait for the elevator?

“We hope it serves as a reminder to Democrats that raising taxes is not the right move,” said Aaron McLear, Schwarzenegger’s press secretary.

Pity the poor California Highway Patrol officers stationed outside the governor’s desk who have to listen to that clip 500 times each hour.
