Opinion: The political parties play trick-or-treat

Halloween isn’t exactly sacred, so it can’t be desecrated. But the horrifying holiday can be dishonored, as it is by some lame jokes from the two major political parties. Consider this knee-slapper from the National Republican Congressional Committee: ‘This Halloween, Democrats are dressing up as themselves.The Democrats’ job-destroying policies make a frightening costume.’

And this from the New Hampshire Democratic Party. Pretending to address trick-or-treaters who want to dress as Mitt Romney, the Dems said: ‘Just like Mitt Romney, the hardest part will be choosing which Mitt you want to be. There’s Unemployed Mitt, Millionaire Mitt, Middle Class Mitt, Mean Mitt and Career Politician Mitt.’
