A private watchdog organization is suing the Justice Department for information about missing e-mails of two former department attorneys.

One of the attorneys, John Yoo, was involved in drafting memos on the legal limits of harsh interrogation methods used in questioning terrorism suspects during the George W. Bush administration.

Justice Department investigators looking into the legal advice Yoo gave were unable to locate his e-mails.
The watchdog group, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, says it has been unable to get records relating to the missing e-mails of Yoo and a second former department attorney who worked with Yoo, Patrick Philbin, under the Freedom of Information Act.

The private organization filed its lawsuit Tuesday in federal court.
