There’s nothing like a stand-out speaker to set the tone for an event, and the debut of the National Tea Party Convention in Nashville Thursday night got a jump-start:
Tom Tancredo, the former Republican congressman from Colorado who ran for president two years ago, opened the show with a rant on ‘the cult of multiculturalism’ in America -- mocking people who speak languages other than English as illiterate -- and the ‘Socialist ideologue’’ who serves as president: ‘Barack Hussein Obama.’’
