Robin Wright and Sean Penn officially divorced

Robin Wright and Sean Penn are officially divorced, with papers filed July 22 that finalize the split and its privately negotiated terms, People reports.

The off-again, on-again divorce proceedings began in 2007, with a couple of temporary reconciliations along the way. Wright and Penn had been involved since 1989, having daughter Dylan in 1991 and son Hopper in 1993, and finally getting married in 1996.

Penn spoke of his single-man plans in Vanity Fair recently: ‘I was for 20 years in a relationship with Robin and 18 years with children. I didn’t have time to commit to anything -- for real -- in places like Iraq, except to denounce the war. But now I’m single. I can lend a hand.’
