Chaz Bono is now legally a man

A judge in a Santa Monica court on Thursday granted Chaz Bono‘s request for a change of name and gender, People reports, putting a legal stamp on the transition Bono started in early 2009.
The child of Cher and the late Sonny Bono who started life as Chastity filed the request in March. In that court filing, available via TMZ, a doctor certified that Chaz had undergone gender-reassignment surgery in September 2009.
Bono told TMZ in June 2009 that his only regret regarding the transition was not doing it sooner.
