Shoplifter threatened workers with knife, police say

Los Angeles police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man they said stole shoes and clothing from a Sears department store and then threatened employees with a six-inch knife when they stopped him in the parking lot.

Police said the confrontation occurred Nov. 13 at about 1:20 p.m. outside the Sears store at 2050 E. Olympic Blvd., southeast of the downtown area.

The shoplifting suspect was described as 18-to-20-years old, about 5-foot-7 and weighing about 150 pounds. Witnesses said he had the initials ‘LA’ tattooed on top of his right hand and was wearing a large, dark-colored jacket and a black baseball cap at the time of the incident.

Detectives said they have released surveillance video of the suspect.
