Los Angeles police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man they said stole shoes and clothing from a Sears department store and then threatened employees with a six-inch knife when they stopped him in the parking lot.
Police said the confrontation occurred Nov. 13 at about 1:20 p.m. outside the Sears store at 2050 E. Olympic Blvd., southeast of the downtown area.
The shoplifting suspect was described as 18-to-20-years old, about 5-foot-7 and weighing about 150 pounds. Witnesses said he had the initials ‘LA’ tattooed on top of his right hand and was wearing a large, dark-colored jacket and a black baseball cap at the time of the incident.
Detectives said they have released surveillance video of the suspect.
Anyone with information on the incident may call Hollenbeck Division detectives at (323) 342- 8986. Text messages should begin with the letters ‘LAPD.’ Tipsters may also go to LAPDOnline.org, click on ‘webtips’ and follow the prompts, authorities said.
