The Manhattan Beach dining scene just keeps getting more interesting. First was the reinvention of Cafe Pierre under chef Remi Lauvand. Then came David LeFevre and MB Post. And just recently Strand House, also in Manhattan Beach, and overseen by Travis Lorton, formerly of Gjelina, with a consultancy by Grace’s Neal Fraser. The latest entry is American Farmhouse Tavern and Dining Hall, a Santa Maria-styled steak place based on the traditions of vaquero and ranchero cooking. The place is anchored by a giant grill that cooks steaks and other meats over red oak coals.
