FNO: WeHo’s official T-shirt (designed by a city employee) debuts

Fashion’s Night Out in New York has an ‘official’ T-shirt — a jaunty black and white graphic top seen most publicly on giddy-looking supermodels.
But the closest facsimile we’re likely to get in L.A. is the official T-shirt for the shopping festivities in, specifically, West Hollywood.
The Avenues of West Hollywood — a self-designated shopping neighborhood that includes stores such as Alpha, John Varvatos, Coco de Mer and Kitson — has debuted its official tee, which will be available for purchase (price TBA) at avenueswh.com on Wednesday, and at the WeHo stores participating in Fashion’s Night Out (find a complete list at avenueswh.com).
American Apparel donated the T-shirts, which were then screen-printed with the Op Art-esque design; proceeds from the sale of each shirt will be donated to the West Hollywood Library Fund.
The graphic, which depicts the distinctive facade of the 3.1 Phillip Lim store on Robertson Boulevard, was rendered by someone who knows WeHo intimately — Prentis Bonds, a thirtysomething economic development coordinator for the city of West Hollywood.
Bonds is a government employee now, but studied fashion design at the Paris American Academy and later apprenticed as a trend consultant for the Korean Fashion Color Assn. In 2005, Bonds produced a runway show for a collection he designed during a market week in Los Angeles.
