Teachers win laughs at Crescenta Valley High’s ComedySportz match
Students at Crescenta Valley High School took on some of the school’s faculty during the 11th annual ComedySportz match between the two groups, and it was the audience who chose the faculty as the winners.
“The audience determines our winners by their applause,” said ComedySportz coach Gavin Hall, also a social science teacher at Crescenta Valley who participated in the competition.

About 140 people attended the event last Friday evening, including parents, residents, and students from Rosemont Middle School and local elementary schools.
They watched as faculty and students were given a topic, scenario or character and acted out a scene on the spot through improvisation.
“The best part about this match is that it is pure enjoyment and fun,” Hall said. “We get to have a fun time with the student players being silly and supporting one another. It takes teachers and faculty out of their daily school routines and how they are seen in the classroom. Our audience and students now see some of their teachers in a different light and can see that they are funny.”
Students will participate in upcoming ComedySportz matches on Thursday and again on May 6 in the Underground Theatre at the school, 2900 Community Ave. in La Crescenta.
