Man caught on camera stealing taxi sought by Glendale police
Glendale police are looking for a man caught on camera stealing a taxi and taking it on a three-minute joyride — while being tailed by a witness — before abandoning the car and running away.
At 3:22 a.m. Monday, the suspect hopped into the taxi, which was parked at 549 W. Colorado Blvd., and drove off as the victim chased behind him, according to Glendale police.
A witness followed the suspect until he reportedly abandoned the car at Exchange and Sperry streets in Los Angeles and fled on foot.
The suspected car thief was described as Hispanic, in his 20s, roughly 5 feet, 6 inches tall with a thin build and black-framed glasses.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Glendale police at (818) 548-4911. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
