750 collector cars go up for auction in Anaheim
About 750 collector cars from 19 states, including muscle cars, classics, hot rods and “restomods,” were expected to be auctioned off in Anaheim Thursday through Saturday.
The Mecum Auction Co., which has been specializing in the sale of collector cars nationwide for 28 years, was hosting the auction at the Anaheim Convention Center. Three hot rods from Street Rodder magazine’s Road Tour Collection were among the main attractions.
Also consigned to the Mecum Anaheim Auction were a group of vehicles from the Mike Doyle collection, including 15 cars, one firetruck and a motorcycle.
Doyle, of Dixon, Calif., planned to offer a 1920 Franklin 9-B Sedan with V-windshield, a 1965 Amphicar convertible, a 1953 Cadillac Eldorado convertible, a 1925 Ford Model T Roadster, a street-legal 1929 Ford dirt track racer and his 1958 Fairlane 500 Skyliner, which he has owned since 1961.
NBC Sports Network was expected to broadcast more than 18 hours of auction coverage.
On the first day of the three-day event:
- The top-selling car was a 2006 Ferrari 430 F1 that sold for $87,500.
- A 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback sold for $44,000.
