William-Mensah snubbed at Rio Olympics

Estancia High graduate and UC Irvine track and field athlete Persis William-Mensah did not compete on the Ghana 4x100-meter relay in its round one heat on Thursday at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

William-Mensah, who will be a junior at UCI in the fall, was one of five athletes considered, but was not chosen for the four-woman relay team.

Ghana finished 13th and did not advance with a time of 43.37 seconds.
