High School Roundup: CdM boys’ soccer takes down Woodbridge

BOYS’ SOCCER

Corona del Mar 2, Woodbridge 1

Matt Katz scored the game-winner in the final minute for the Sea Kings in the Pacific Coast League game on Thursday.

Grant Joyce assisted on the game-winning goal that moved CdM (10-3-4, 5-0-1 in league) into first place.

Brett Wirta scored first for CdM off an assist from Andre Pregoni.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

Newport Harbor 4, Marina 1

Emily Johnson and Sianna Siemonsma each had two goals for the Sailors in Thursday’s Sunset League game at Marina High.

Makenzie Trigo had two assists and Zoe Conley also had an assist for Newport Harbor (13-3-2, 4-3 in league), which has won three straight games.

The Sailors play host to Los Alamitos on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Costa Mesa High.

Estancia 4, Saddleback 1

Freshman Desiree Mendoza scored twice in the second half for the Eagles in Thursday’s Orange Coast League game.

Freshman Jada Alford and senior Lauren Kaucher both had first-half-goals for the Eagles (10-4-2, 5-1 in league).

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

Estancia 21, Rancho Alamitos 1

Katelyn Chesemore scored nine goals for the Eagles in Thursday’s nonleague game.

Hayley Hopper and Julia Paluch both scored five, and Hanna Smith made six saves in goal.
