North vs. South Challenge tournament
ATHERTON — Huntington Beach won the tournament title Saturday after beating Mater Dei, 11-6, in the championship game at Sacred Heart Prep.
Junior Curtis Jarvis had four goals and two assists in the final for the Oilers. Senior center Quinten Osborne scored twice and drew six exclusions, while junior Jacob Cavano also scored twice.
Garrett Zaan, Matthew Robert and Ryan Hurst also scored for Huntington Beach (17-3), ranked No. 3 in CIF Southern Section Division 1. Senior goalie Patrick Saunders made nine saves.
Mater Dei is ranked No. 2 in Division 1.
Osborne scored three goals to lead the Oilers in a 9-5 semifinal win over host Sacred Heart. Saunders made 12 saves.
Huntington Beach plays at Newport Harbor in a key Sunset League game Wednesday at 5 p.m.

PALO ALTO — Laguna Beach finished 13th in the 16-team tournament after beating Davis, 9-6, at Gunn High on Saturday.
The Breakers also beat host Gunn, 14-9, earlier Saturday. Senior co-captain Camden Benson led Laguna with four goals, while Colton Gregory and Peter Loomis each scored twice.
