Surfing: Conlogue in final eight
HUNTINGTON BEACH — Courtney Conlogue, a Sage Hill School graduate and the No. 1-ranked women’s surfer in the world, has advanced to the final eight in the Van’s U.S. Open of Surfing that continues through Sunday near the Huntington Beach Pier.
On Wednesday, Conlogue, a Santa Ana resident, won a three-person heat in Round 3 to move on.
In Round 2, Conlogue eliminated Newport Beach resident Meah Collins, who had advanced from the women’s championship tour trials on Monday.
Collins reached the quarterfinals of the Pro Junior women’s competition.
